From one memorable performance in 2021 came Breakin’ Ballet All Styles Dance Company, founded by Joy and Aerick Burton and several fellow dancers as a way to heal during the COVID-19 pandemic. Breakin’ Ballet has performed pieces with various themes mixing multiple styles of dance including ballet, contemporary, lyrical, and break dancing. Near the end of 2023, when most of the original members of Breakin’ Ballet started returning to work in person, Joy and Aerick opened up the company so anyone interested could join. With a sense of collaboration on each piece and a celebration of what each dancer brings to the table, it’s no wonder that Breakin’ Ballet continues to spark interest.
