Here are the meeting highlights for the April 3, 2024 City of Kalamazoo Civil Rights Board meeting.
The Board continues to review the Chapter 18 Ordinance and drafting the final language next week to the City Attorney’s office for fine tuning. The Civil Rights Board reviews allegations and violations of the local Non-Discrimination Ordinance and Fair Housing Ordinance. The Board also makes recommendations to the City on how practices or policies that lead to discrimination can be changed. The Civil Rights Board was created in September 2020 following updates to Chapter 18 of the Code of Ordinances.
