Pirates, soldiers from the War of 1812, 1850’s pioneers, 1880’s woodsmen, and other historic figures filled the Kalamazoo Expo Center during the Kalamazoo Living History Show. Considered one of the largest events of its kind the Midwest, the Kalamazoo Living History Show attracts fans of North American history from around the country. In this video, we meet several vendors and attendees who talk about why they love history and the importance of remembering those that came before us.

After the show, Laura Supinger, who specializes in 18th women’s history with an emphasis on cooking and women’s domestic life, stopped by our studio. She talked about what it was like for women to run a household and the challenges they had to navigate to maintain a “proper” home. Click here to watch Laura’s interview.
