The Board met on Thursday to interview 3 applicants for the Trustee position vacated by the June 13th resignation of Trustee Jermaine Jackson. After deliberating the board ultimately appointed Juanita Yvonne Payton. Payton is a former KPS teacher, principal, and assistant superintendent of elementary schools. She is involved in numerous community organizations including Delta Sigma Theta sorority, Kalamazoo Links, Family Health Center and Kalamazoo Institute of Arts. Payton will serve starting at the next KPS Board meeting Thursday July 25th through December 2024.
