Memorial Day 2024: What to do in Kalamazoo this Memorial Day

Celebrate this memorial day with the following community events:

The Kalamazoo Sunrise Rotary Club and Charlie’s Place co-sponsor the annual Memorial Day Parade in Downtown Kalamazoo. This year’s parade will take place on Monday, May 27th at 10AM. The parade starts on Michigan Avenue and continues to Riverside Cemetery for a ceremony honoring veterans and remembering those who gave their lives.

The Air Zoo hosts their Memorial Day Luminaria, this annual tradition honors loved ones with illuminated paper bags cast into the sky. The Air Zoo welcomes you to personalize a luminaria for display on the evening of Sunday, May 26th and launch it at the event.

Ramona Park Beach opens for the season on Memorial Day Weekend, May 24th to 27th from 10 AM to 8 PM daily. Ramona Park Beach offers a sandy swim area with lifeguards, kayak, canoe, and paddleboard rentals. The beach also includes concessions, picnic areas, beach volleyball, a playground, changing rooms, and more! Vehicle permits for entry into Ramona Park can be obtained on-site near the park entrance during regular beach hours.
