The board celebrated student achievements from Prairie Ridge Elementary and honored presidential award winning teacher, Shannon Houtrouw from the Kalamazoo Area Math and Science Center. The Board considered the Superintendents recommendation for the future of El Sol School and unanimously approved the proposed construction of a new El Sol Elementary School at 1428 Baker Drive. The board acknowledges the importance of maintaining community ties and plans to form a committee to address future uses of the current El Sol site. Additionally, the board reviewed committee updates, state compliance for drinking water management, and budget plans. In the Superintendents report, Dr. Slade provided updates on school closure procedures due to weather conditions and reminds the community to get involved with critical issues and attend upcoming listening sessions. The board appreciates community support in passing millages and emphasizes the importance of student safety and facility improvements.
