Event Shares Resources for Residents and Homeowners

Community Homeworks hosted the National Night Out at the Southside Park in the Edison Neighborhood on Wednesday, August 4. National Night Out is an annual community-building event held across the United States, promoting police-community partnerships. While members of KDPS were on hand, attendees were also happy to see many of the other vendors chosen by Community Homeworks.

Community Homeworks is a nonprofit dedicated to helping low-income homeowners maintain safe and healthy homes. Founded in 2009, it offers critical home repairs, hands-on homeowner education workshops, and their new community tool library.

Other organizations tabling at the event included several with complementary missions, including the Edison Neighborhood Association, the City of Kalamazoo Free Water Filter Program, and Consumers Energy’s Free Home Energy Analysis Program.

The event may be over, but many of the programs and resources presented at the event are still available for members of the community. For more information, please contact Community Homeworks or click on any of the links above.
