Kzoo Entrepreneur Makes Dream Reality

Kalamazoo entrepreneur Kristi Potts has expanded her sweet treats business, transitioning into the former Dairy Queen/Taco Bob’s building at 1502 South Westnedge Avenue in the Vine Neighborhood. Potts was inspired to start “Kzoo Cream,” after baking cream-cheese sugar cookies with her mother. Potts turned a family tradition into a thriving business after local demand soared to more than 1,000 cookies per week. With guidance from the city’s Economic Development Department and nonprofits like Michigan Women Forward, she transformed her dream into a storefront offering cookies, ice cream, sandwiches, tamales, and “dirty sodas.” Watch to see how Kristi turned her dream into reality, and how you can too. This video includes interviews from Mayor David Anderson, Economic Development Department Director Antonio Mitchell, Owner Kristi Potts, Vice Mayor Jeanne Hess, and Vine Neighborhood Assoc. Executive Director Stephen Walsh.
