The Commission considered alterations on three Historic District Properties including a window replacement, and sign installations for Treystar and the Kalamazoo Foundation. First, the commission addressed applications for replacing a non-historic window with an aluminum-clad window. The second and third requests involved installation of new signage with modern branding for the downtown offices of Treystar as well as the Kalamazoo Community Foundation, and the addition of solar panels on a less visible roof section. Each application was evaluated for its compliance with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation. The commission also discussed the importance of maintaining historic integrity while accommodating modern needs. Additionally, updates were provided on cemetery preservation efforts and the successful reinterment of remains found during city works.
