The Kalamazoo Police Athletic League (PAL) helps bridge the gap between youth and police officers through programs and activities.
Their newest youth program, Fishing with PAL, teaches the essentials of fishing. Kids learn to assemble fishing poles, hook worms, and learn how to fish both on land and in a boat.
PAL Director Johnnie Berry explained that most of the youth enrolled had never previously gone fishing. He hopes that learning to fish will help teach them patience, among other skills.
