Civic Snapshot: June 24-25, 2025 Oshtemo Township Board of Trustees and Budget Meetings.

The board begins its budget meetings with a review of departmental achievements, goals, and vision for the future development of the township. In the first of two meetings the board reviewed presentations from the Assessing and Building Departments as well as the office of Ordinance Enforcement. The legal department requested an additional $100,000 to address blight issues on several properties. The fire department is also seeking funds for vehicle maintenance following an unexpected expense and was scheduled for a longer presentation in the next days session. The board also approved zoning ordinance text amendment updates related to accessory dwelling units, parking regulations, and transportation and mobility, to better align with community needs and modern standards. Notably, the board was informed about the appointment of the township supervisor to a new authority related to a sports complex development with comments from Discover Kalamazoo president Jane Gosch. The meeting concluded with updates from various board members on ongoing community initiatives. Following up with another budget meeting on June 25, 2025 the Board reviewed presentations from the Township IT Department, Human Resources, Maintenance, and the Parks Department. As promised the Fire Department returned to present their achievements, goals, and vision.
